The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura (GHV) Hall of Fame has been established to create a lasting tribute to those who have brought honor to themselves, their school, and our communities.Any accomplishments during the days of Garner, Hayfield, Garner-Hayfield, and Ventura should be considered for the GHV Hall of Fame.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the GHV Hall of Fame is threefold:
To honor those past graduates who have accomplished extraordinary feats in extra and co-curricular activities;
To honor those who have made great contributions to GHV activities over a period of many years;
To honor those GHV High School graduates who have distinguished themselves in life after high school.
CATEGORIES OF MEMBERSHIP
All nominees for membership in the GHV Hall of Fame will fall into one of the following categories:
Friends of GHV
Coaches/Sponsors
Teams/Groups
Individuals
Distinguished Graduates
CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION
Friends of GHV (INCLUDING Friends of Garner, Hayfield, Garner-Hayfield, and Ventura) Persons who have made outstanding contributions to GHV (including Garner, Garner-Hayfield, and Ventura), generally over a long period of years. This could be through volunteer service or financial contributions. Nominees in this category need not be GHV graduates. Examples could include, but are not limited to, team physician, long time volunteers, Athletic or Music Booster Club members, and/or financial benefactors. Posthumous recognition nominations are accepted.
Coaches/Sponsors Induction in this category is limited to those who served GHV High School (including Garner, Hayfield, Garner-Hayfield, and Ventura), as Coaches or Sponsors of an activity for a minimum of 10 years. Coaches and/or Sponsors must be "retired" from their programs before being considered for induction into the Hall of Fame in this category. Nominees in this category need not be GHV graduates. Posthumous recognition nominations are accepted.
Teams/Groups Outstanding achievement by a particular team or group while representing GHV High School (including Garner, Hayfield, Garner-Hayfield, Ventura). Induction in this category could include but is not limited to teams who earned a State Champion or State Runner-Up trophy in IHSAA or IGHSAU competition or the equivalent in Fine Arts activities. A 10-year waiting period from the time the trophy was earned would be imposed before a team or group would be considered for induction to the GHV Hall of Fame in this category.
Individuals Outstanding individual achievement while representing GHV High School (including Garner, Hayfield, Garner-Hayfield, Ventura). Induction in this category could include but is not limited to Individual State Champions in Cross Country, Wrestling, Track and Field, and Golf, and/or recognition as First-team All State performers in team sports as well as All State performers in Fine Arts activities. A 10-year waiting period after graduation would be imposed before an individual would be considered for induction to the GHV Hall of Fame in this category. Posthumous recognition nominations are accepted.
Distinguished Graduates Induction in this category would include GHV (including Garner, Hayfield, Garner-Hayfield, Ventura), graduates who have brought honor and recognition to the school and community through their achievements following graduation. All GHV (including Garner, Garner-Hayfield, Ventura), graduates are eligible for induction in this category. Instead of accomplishments while attending GHV (Garner, Garner Hayfield, Ventura), nominees in this category could be considered for induction (but are not limited to) through intercollegiate accomplishments, professional, humanitarian, leadership, and/or lifetime achievements, and/or significant accomplishments to his/her community, state, or nation. A 10-year waiting period after graduation would be imposed before an individual would be considered for induction to the GHV Hall of Fame in this category. Posthumous recognition nominations are accepted.
